New events for Summer 2016

We’ve just updated our Events page with details of some upcoming activities which might be of particular interest to members outside the Exeter area. First of all, on the 15th of June there will be a talk in Barnstaple on “Amazing Mammals from Around the World” where some of our well-travelled members will be sharing their stories of mammal experiences in far-off countries.

Also this summer will see the return of our very successful “What’s On Your Doorstep” events. This year the events will be in Offwell near Honiton, Shute near Axminster and North Tawton in Mid-Devon. Over the course of two weekends mammal expert Adrian Bayley will introduce you to the trapping and recording techniques used to survey for a range of mammals. He will also show you how to identify tell-tail signs and droppings. The evenings will be spent looking for badgers and hopefully seeing bats in the hand. Course participants will be encouraged to take away small mammal traps, bat detectors and trail cameras between the two weekends and to use them and the other techniques they have learned, to see what they can find.
