Posted on : Monday 17 August 2009, 9:32pm
To celebrate the 21st birthday of the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme (NDMP) the People's Trust for Endangered Species is running a Great Nut Hunt this autumn. The aim is to gather data on the distribution of dormice in England and Wales by encouraging people to look for hazelnut shells, which dormice open in a unique way.

If you're interested in taking part, there's a number of events taking place around the county over the next couple of months. You'll be taught how to identify a nut which has been opened by a dormouse and have the chance to take part in a group nut hunt in some of Devon's wonderful nature reserves.

For more information, please download the event list here - and go nuts!
